Valmorel is a beautiful little French ski village in the heart of La Grand Domaine ski area, just 2 hours from Geneva. The village is one of the first stops in the Tarentaise valley, which also includes the smaller hamlets of Doucy, Nâves, Celliers and LaLéchère-Les-bains. Valmorel sits at the heart of Le Grand Domaine ski area which means most of the village and hotels, are accessible directly from the slopes, i.e. ski-in/ski-out.
Most of the buildings are built of natural stone, wood and slate, which makes for an authentic alps village atmosphere. The main street through town, Le Bourg, is a pedestrian area during the season and is lined with great little shops and eateries.
This is one of our recommended destinations for families and for beginner to intermediate skiers.
